I graduated from Doane College with a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling in 2013 and I have been employed as a counselor since then. I provide mental health counseling as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Certified Disordered Gambling Counselor (CDGC). I joined the Lincoln Behavioral Health Clinic team in 2017.
Counselors and psychologists who have made a significant impact on my training as a counselor, my counseling style, and my philosophy of counseling, include: Janet Johnson, Jeremy Eberle, Tom Gilligan, Bill Shuart, Travis Groft, Kate Speck, Beverlee Linder, Ray Zeisset, Owen Saunders, and Pete Allman. Other persons who made a significant impact on my delivery of counseling services include Don Holmquist and Deb Hammond.
Prior to my work as a counselor, I worked for the Nebraska Legislature as a staffer in six state senators’ offices for 32 years. I am a lifetime resident of Lancaster County. I graduated from Lincoln East High School and received my Bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Political Science and German. I also have a certificate in paralegal research from the College of St. Mary, former Lincoln campus, and I have a certificate in massage therapy from the Myotherapy Institute in Lincoln.
I remain grateful for the opportunities afforded me in my past profession by: Rich Pahls, Roger Wehrbein, Deb Suttle, Jim Monen, Tom Horgan, and Elroy Hefner. My “honorable mentions” for this list include: Dale Siefkes, Dick Marvel, and Jan Vermeer.
My work history includes experience in the following areas: a staffer for the Nebraska Legislature, working in State Senators’ offices; growing up and working on my family’s farm in Lancaster County; warehouse work; driving a delivery van and driving trucks; working in a foundry; manufacturing concrete culverts; assembling farm machinery at a farm implement dealer; operating as an independent licensed massage therapist; and driving for Uber and Lyft.
In my free time, you will find me on my bicycle exploring local bicycle trails, hiking on trails, reading, or spending time with family and friends.
